For Friday's class, I'd like you to read the short story by Mark Twain, titled A True Story, Repeated Word for Word as I heard it. I'd like you to write an entry in your blog that identifies the linguistic features you notice in Twain's representation of this account. How, in other words, would you begin to categorize the features that you see in this text? Think in terms of some of the things we discussed on Monday: words, sounds, syntax, etc.
Also, click on the class blogs listed on the right of this page, and read what your classmates wrote about what an English teacher should be teaching about language and the English language. Offer a comment on at least two of them (more if you like) - especially fruitful if you disagree or want to raise another point.
